- Winifred Atwell track is played as a tribute to the pianist, who had died the previous day.
- Peel continues to experiment with session format, playing one across the first hour of show, the other across the second, rather than playing scattered tracks from both through the whole show, or even as single blocks as he had done in previous weeks.
- Peel mentions that 'the whole world' is talking about compact discs, although he admits he is unfamiliar with the equipment and technology. He also mentions there had been several technical problems in the previous night's show.
- There is some hint of the friendly rivalry between Peel and The Laird over who gets to play records first. Peel reveals Jensen had played the Wah single earlier, albeit the 7", whereas Peel had been given the 12" by his friend Pete Wylie himself. He also says that 'The Beast' had "exclusively previewed" the new Teardrop Explodes single earlier in the day, although Peel points out that The Laird had already played it 'less than 14 hours' before him.
