John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

  • The city of Norwich proves to be a touchy subject during the programme. JP: "We have an issue with Norwich at the moment in our house. I won't bore you with details, but we do. But I'm sure we'll overcome it." The cause is more than likely related to football (Norwich City had been promoted to the Premier League back in May).
  • The Graham Coxon session contains three cover versions (Bob Lund / Nick Drake / Elvis Costello via Robert Wyatt).
  • Peel says he regrets introducing daughter Flossie to Record Collector magazine, as when a new issue arrives she looks through it and then interrogates him over whether he has any of the more valuable records featured in his collection.
  • Andrew Morrison of disclaimer fame emails in.
  • The closing track by Bettye Swann is given another spin after Peel made a mess of playing it two weeks previously.

Sessions[]

Tracklisting[]

Peel gives a wonderfully dry rendition of the trusty offensive content disclaimer.
  • Nightwalker: Head Nod (12") True Playaz
  • Graham Coxon: Min Trampolin (Peel Session)
  • Sterling Roswell: Ludic Revolution (b/w 'Venus Honey Dew' 7") Mint
  • JP: I'm interested if you decide for yourselves which well known british band [The Fall] to the listeners of the program Intelligence has been listening quiet a lot.

Starts playing the 'One Drop' single first instead of the intended advert (Wrong Track Moment).
