Thirty-one minutes only of a three-hour show. The time of transmission is confused by the fact that JP announces the 11.30 news at 0:07:16, thereby making the period covered by the tape 11.23-11.54 p.m. After the news, he announces the last session tracks by both artists, thereby indicating the oncoming end of the programme. Yet The Peel Sessions states that at that time the show was running from 11 p.m.-2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and there does not appear to be an edit on the tape. It may therefore be assumed that this particular programme had been put back to an earlier start time for some reason.
(Ken adds): My analysis is that Peel simply misread either the clock or his script. In the news bulletin the newsreader refers to something having been confirmed "late last night". That means he is talking after midnight. It cannot possibly refer to late Friday night, because that would be too old a story to make a radio news bulletin almost 24 hrs later. My guess is this is the news bulletin from either 12.30am or 1.30am. I cannot recall when they fell in his shows of this time, but a tape of another complete show from March 92 - Oct 93 will confirm. I think they were 11.30 and 12.30, definitely. Radio Times may help too...
(Weatherman22 adds) I have some snippets from this show. The Kitchens of Distinction track starts 22 minutes after the news bulletin (whenever that really was) and lasts for 7 mins 15 seconds. That would take it up to the next half hour. I have the Peel outro following that , where he says he will be playing the last Aphex Twin track in a moment. So I think that it rules out the news being at 1:30. The timing of the session tracks through the show would point towards the news bulletin actually being at 1am, the last Aphex track starting at something like 1:32 and then 20 minutes at the end of chat and records.
