  • Full tracklisting from the PasB of the BBC Written Archives Centre.
  • JP plays "The Boiler" by Rhoda & Special AKA, saying the song seems particularly relevant given the news that day. This may have been a reference to the conviction of the “Freeway Killer” in the US for the rape and murder of 14 young men and boys. [1]
  • Peel claims that he wrote the sleevenotes for a Count Five album when he lived in California in the sixties but they were rejected as “too weird” and never used.
  • Has been told by members of Cat Wax Axe Co, who he saw on Tuesday, that the Mills Blue Rhythm Band track that he played on Monday (04 January 1982) was the best thing on the show. He plays another, recorded in 1936.
  • JP obtained that very evening a long sought-after (“for reasons you probably won’t understand”) LP of the soundtrack of film Barabbas. He plays a brief sample of “The Whipping Of Christ.”
