John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

(JP: 'Hiya, there will be those amongst you who expecting Andy and hearing my voice instead will be horrified even enraged. The thing is simply Andy returning from the Gambia by way of a 40 degrees below Stockholm is ill and confined to his bed and I'm music loving John Peel has been stuffed into the breach, bear with me and get those get well cards rolling in.')
(JP: 'I have no idea at all what Andy's approach to that one would be, but I think he would like this which is from a band from Orange County, the Beguiled, I Don't Care.')
(JP: 'I don't doubt that Andy having been in Africa recently could pronounce this alot better than I can, but the title of this is Ngangi Ekousha.')
(JP: 'He doesn't do that on his live gigs anymore you know. I saw him in Ipswich at the Gaumont couple of years ago and he was awe inspiring genuinely and I was moved to tears on two occasions.')
(JP: 'Still the world's top band of course just ahead of the Bhundu Boys whose LP I noticed is only number 6 in the African charts, but we say wake up Britain.')
(JP: 'Part of a Christmas present from Bill Wright, thank you Bill, that's Winston Curtis, Freedom Train.')
(Friday Rock Show trailer by Tommy Vance)
(JP: 'In case you're sitting there thinking as you listen to your radio, we thought we got rid of this twerp yesterday, where is Andy Kershaw?, well Andy came back from his travels unwell and is taking the day off but hopefully will be back next week.')
(JP: 'All the tracks on this excellent LP sound like drinking songs, Abstürzende Brieftauben and I'm not gonna have another go on the title because I think I got it wrong the last time perfectly honest with you. I would not like this programme to pass without playing at least some surfing number, these are the Catalinas.')
(JP: 'Andy will be back next Thursday bursting with health full of tales daring do, I will be back on Monday night with sessions from the Stupids and A Witness, coming up shortly the midnight news summary. Thanks very much for listening, goodnight.')
