  • Peel says Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Pagan Baby' is his favourite track of theirs since 'Effigy'. It’s one of their extended album tracks, rather than hit single material.
  • Peel recommends listeners if they have a TV to watch Anatomy Of Pop on BBC1 tomorrow morning at 11:35, which features amongst others Soft Machine, Frank Zappa and Marmalade. He fails to mentions that he himself appears on the programme.
  • Peel mentions his brother, Alan Ravenscroft, who works for a "TV magazine of the arts", wants to get hold of George Harrison for an interview about his LP. Peel says he told Alan that it would be more interesting to talk to John Lennon and Yoko Ono about their “remarkable” LP, but he replied that they were getting enough exposure already.
  • He follows Van Der Graaf Generator's "Killer", about a shark, with a track from Songs of The Humpback Whale[1], which became a surprise hit album of its era, reflecting the growing interest in ecology and the preservation of endangered species. In his intro he mentions a TV show featuring Dr Roger Payne, who made the recordings featured on the LP.
  • Peel mentions having a bet with John Walters that there won't be any London clubs in the top three positions at the end of the Division One football league season. It turned out to be true with Derby County winning the title, followed by Leeds United and Liverpool.
  • He also says he doesn’t know how Blackpool managed to hold Liverpool to a draw at Anfield.
  • Peel describes the closing track as a "camp classic" and says he wanted to get a copy of the LP as soon as he saw it in the record company's catalogue. It's by Mitch Miller, who became famous during the novelty song era of the early 1950s, when Peel began buying records, and produced hits by Rosemary Clooney, among others. He calls it "Middle America catching up with the peace movement" and says "it may be a genuine thing, but I suspect not…"
