John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Comments
  • (Introduction to show, mood of Peel, interesting comments, etc. If possible, please add mentions of gigs attended, football matches, TV appearances, stories of past/current activities, etc, for use elsewhere on John Peel Wiki.)
  • The Tim Buckley tracks may not be in the same order as on the original playlist. After "Love From Room 170" Peel says "Hope he comes back very soon", which may indicate that it was the final session track, played quite late in the show.
  • Also played was "Canyons Of Your Mind" by Bonzo Dog Band according to John on the following week's Top Gear

Sessions[]

  • Joe Cocker And The Grease Band #2, recorded 7th October 1968. No known commercial release.
  • Tim Buckley #2, recorded 1st October 1968. No known commercial release. The Untitled track is an early version of "The Train" (from the Blue Afternoon LP) and Love from Room 170 was re-titled as "Love From Room 109" on the LP Happy Sad. The two tracks here appeared on a rare 1980s bootleg LP "Happy Mad".
  • Fleetwood Mac #5 (part 2), recorded 27th August 1968, (part 1) broadcast 01 September 1968. No known commercial release.
  • Honeybus #3 recorded 20th August 1968, repeat, first broadcast 15 September 1968. No known commercial release.

(Please add details of any commercial release of these sessions)
