John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Tracklisting[]

"John Peel's Music on BFBS, and this is our merry yuletide programme, made particularly earlying by the fact there are no, yes - no, go on, count 'em, Christmas records, and this includes the Jesus And Mary Chain, of course."
(JP: 'Well now this next is for Robbie, who wanted a lot of information. He wanted to know about the Crippled Pilgrims and the Blue Orchids. I was going to send him some information about all of this, but I think I probably failed to do so. And he also wanted to know why I haven't played the new Peter and The Test Tube Babies record. The main reason for that is, I don't think it's very good: frankly, it's awful, to be honest. He also wanted to know whether New Order are going to be touring in Germany next year. Well, I've been phoning their information office in London, and people who've tried to get in touch with them in the past will be able to confirm this, it is not easy to ascertain anything about the current activities of New Order, so I've failed in this respect as well. But he did want me to play something for himself and LW, Oliver and Hupsy. So, hope this'll do.')
By way of introduction to the next track John mentions that he read in this week's Sounds that he'd been voted the world's 3rd ugliest man.
(JP: 'Any band who has the nerve to work a variant on the terrible Mary Had A Little Lamb joke into one of their songs is alright with me.')
(JP: 'Dunno what you're laughing about. You ought to be out looking for the people who stole my records.') [1]$
(JP: 'Flake off, eh? How do you do that, I wonder?')
(JP: 'There are very few things in life, besides seeing Ron Atkinson in despair, that give me greater pleasure than a well-twanged guitar.') [2]
