- File 1 consists an incomplete show with the first 8 minutes from a different programme or programmes.
- Show starts with sound of seagulls followed by machine gunning, then snippet of You'll Never Walk Alone. Reference is to the previous day's Liverpool surprise 2-1 home loss to Brighton (nickname, the Seagulls) in the FA Cup, as later recalled by Attila The Stockbroker. Having been at the game, JP also maintains that The Kop were particularly unappreciative of the team after the match, contrary to what was said by Brighton manager Jimmy Melia in a post-match interview.
- JP notes his appearance on the inside sleeve of the latest Roman Holliday single. (See Peel On Record Covers).
- Peel had remarked in a previous show that the new 12" single from New Order (Blue Monday) was boring and has received several letters on the subject. One is in protest of his comment, whereas another is in solidarity although adds that the single "will probably be a big hit". Another listener criticizes Peels "constant petty criticism" of the group, which Peel firmly denies.
- The DJ is very enthusiastic about OMD's new session which he says is more "muscular" and "robust" than previous material. In particular he maintains that the session version of the new single Genetic Engineering is better than the official release.
- Peel plays a bit of a wrong track moment before the Partisans record. The track was Tony Tuff's Come Fe Mash It which he plays afterwards.
- He has received a letter from a branch of Sheena Barmy Army near Ipswich and is impressed by their headed notepaper. He also mentions that he is actually wearing his green Sheena Barmy Army jumper tonight.
