This was the third program hosted by John Peel in 1982, with special guest co-host Debbie Harry. This was the week's singles chart.

John Peel was given 15 seconds to interview Debbie Harry about her new single. Annoyed by this ridiculous time constraint, he deliberately asked an overly long question so that she would not have time to answer. This was done with the full co-operation of Harry who, apparently, was amused by it.
This was Japan's last appearance on the show before the band split up at the end of the year.[1]
The shorter than usual TOTP was broadcast immediately before the 1982 FA Cup Final replay between Spurs and QPR (Spurs won 1-0). Peel, a fanatical Liverpool fan, sported a red "Champions" jumper listing the Anfield club's league triumphs in homage to his heroes.

Well hello and welcome to the rundown to the replay of the North London Charity Cup. TOTP, a little earlier than usual, somewhat truncated but full of famous people. One or two surprises and some wonderful teenbeat music. We start with a band which boasts at least two Queen's Park Rangers supporters - Genesis.

Peel : That’s Genesis, boys and girls... really cute! And everywhere you go in this studio the place is just packed with Debbie Harry look-alikes. But seriously Debbie, very nice that you could come along to TOTP. This film we’re about to see, whereabouts did you do that? Debbie : We did that down the Scilly Isles. Peel : Did you? Yes, well we had a chance to do a really penetrating in depth interview so let’s now have a look at the film.

Peel : Well that’s the Duran Durans. And she’s still here... I think it’s me jumper she’s after. Debbie, do you have any particular favourites of your own in the Top 30? Debbie : Well… Peel : While you’re thinking about that, here’s a chance for you to enjoy me doing the countdown.
Peel : (pointing to Boy George/Hayzi Fantayzee lookalike) This is the first time I've manged to get my mother into the studio.
Peel : (on Soft Cell): Absoloutely yummy if you ask me...picking and grinning their way into your hearts.
