John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Comments
  • (Introduction to show, mood of Peel, interesting comments, etc). If possible, please add mentions of gigs attended, TV appearances, etc, for use elsewhere on John Peel Wiki.
  • File 1 - An on the fly mixtape concentrating on the three complete archive sessions broadcast on this date, but also some intervening tracks.
  • The odd JP link survives most notably the one between the last of the first Smiths session and the first of the second.
  • Very good to excellent FM stereo quality.
  • Recently available File 2 is also an on the fly mixtape, taken from a haul of 1500 mixed edited radio show tapes, purchased from a Scottish collector by a group including Peel Mailing List member Haze. The order of tracks recorded on file 2 implies that the two parts of File 1, merged from different tapes, were stitched in the wrong order, i.e. SB321 then SB323, instead of SB323 then SB321. The correct order is shown below.
  • This was a Bank Holiday Monday show. A full Janice Long show from earlier in the day confirms that 'Mr. Peel' would be playing 'early sessions' by the two artists. (link)
