- Peel tells listeners that he and the Pig are getting married on Saturday, which is also his birthday.
- Johnnie Taylor's 'I've Been Born Again', played here as a new release on Stax, was one of Peel's all-time favourite records - featuring in his 1974 Top Fifty One Singles, on his 40th birthday show of 29 August 1979, and after his death in John Peel's Record Box of most treasured singles.
- Brinsley Schwarz session track 'What's So Funny About Peace Love And Understanding' was written by Nick Lowe and later covered by Elvis Costello. JP disappointed that the single wasn't a hit.
- Second half of the show dedicated to Liverpool player Kevin Keegan, who Peel says has been the victim of "hysterical over-reaction" (after being sent off for fighting in the Charity Shield v Leeds [2]). JP promises to play any future single (or album) by him.
- Track played from Minnie Riperton LP, with JP noting involvement of Stevie Wonder (under an alias).
