John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Aereogramme

Aereogramme were a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1998, consisting of Craig B. (vocals, guitar), Iain Cook (guitar, programming), Campbell McNeil (bass) and Martin Scott (drums). The band released four studio albums before splitting up in 2007. After the group split, Iain Cook and Craig B. formed another band, The Unwinding Hours, and released a new album on 15 February 2010. Cook also formed in 2011 a new band, Chvrches, together with Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry. Martin Scott is currently working with Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro as tour manager and Campbell McNeil is working in the same capacity with The Temper Trap and Chvrches.

Links to Peel[]

The band did three sessions for Peel's show and JP included their album Sleep And Release as his January 2003 (Peel's Record Box). Peel's listeners after his death voted two tracks from the group into the 2004 Festive Fifty. In an interview with Podcart, singer Craig B. acknowledged the influence of Peel:

"John Peel was a huge influence on the way my musical taste developed. The fact that Peel’s show introduced me to Otis Redding highlights just how eclectic his playlist could be but also reminds me of how exciting it was to have an independent voice that might introduce you to something genuinely life changing each week."
