John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Art Phag

Art Phag was an American garage rock band from Detroit, consisting of John Rasmussen, Len Puch, Steve Mills and Tim Rounsifer. The band were first signed to the Wanghead label, founded by member Len Puch. After their first self titled album were released in 1988, the group later released a follow up album called 'Instant Ventriloquism' in 1991. The band was largely a project by Len Puch, who later got involved with Elvis Hitler and was behind the Fuknotz.

Peel was very impressed by the band's debut album in 1988 and would often play tracks from it on his radio programmes. Impressed by their album, Peel invited the band to do a session for his show. The opportunity to do the session came when the band did their one and only UK tour in December 1988. While on the road they were asked to record a session. However, due to the routing of the tour and the time schedule, it wasn't possible to record this at Maida Vale, so instead, on Friday 16th December 1988, the band decamped to Lion Studios in Leeds, and recorded five tracks. The songs were sent to Peel + John Walters but the session was never broadcast for unknown reasons.
