
Avrocar were a post rock band from Birmingham, England active between the late 90's and 2013. The group have been compared to Nick Drake, Kraftwerk and My Bloody Valentine and have been cited as an influence by acts as diverse as Radiohead, Deerhunter and Tropic Of Cancer. Members included Perry McDonagh and Anthony Harding, the latter having a solo career under the name of July Skies.

Peel played the group's debut single, Screen, in January 1998 and would play further material from the band. In 2004, Peel nominated their Guidence EP as one of his records of the month for July 2004 (Peel's Record Box). He also played tracks from Anthony Harding's solo project called July Skies, where he nominated his, At The Height Of Summer EP, as one of his records for the month for January 2001 (Peel's Record Box). The group recorded a session one day after Peel's death and was broadcast on Rob Da Bank's programme using the John Peel show title.
