  1. In addition to the session artists listed on this page, the four-man lineup of Led Zeppelin, who recorded three sessions, included Birmingham natives Robert Plant and John Bonham.
  2. Joan Armatrading was born on the Caribbean island of Saint Kitts, but moved to Birmingham at the age of seven.
  3. Beginning life under the name The Foresters of Walesby, the group began singing unaccompanied vocal harmony folk songs in Lincolnshire folk clubs. After relocating to Birmingham, West Midlands, in 1968, they shortened their name to Forest.
  4. According to Wikipedia, they were formed in Birmingham in 1981, although allmusic claims this was Ipswich in 1982.
