John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Bomb Disneyland

Bomb Disneyland were a UK Punk Crossover/Thrash Metal band from London, They changed their name to Bomb Everything when Walt Disney lawyers filed a complaint with the band.

The band only released one album and there was a major issue with the illustration on the rear of the sleeve, because a well known motorcycle gang was not happy with the band for mocking its logo. The gang paid the band a visit at one of their gigs, and not long after that the record company got a letter from the bike gang's lawyers stating that it had to change/remove the illustration because it was under copyright. Therefore stickers of the psycho cat were quickly printed and stuck on the remaining covers that were next in line to be shipped. This continued until a cover with new artwork could be printed for all the remaining stock.

The problems didn't end there, because Walt Disney also found out about the cover. Another letter subsequently arrived at the record company's office, this time from Disney's lawyers stating that one of its characters and the word 'Disneyland' could not be used, again because they were both under copyright.

Peel was impressed with the band's material and invited them to do a session for his show, where they recorded four tracks in 1989. He also invited the group to perform at the John Peel Roadshow, where on his 18 December 1989 show, he was disappointed with the turnout.
