Circle is a Finnish experimental rock band formed in Pori, Finland, in 1991. Their eclectic, ever-changing style has been associated with genres such as krautrock, heavy metal, progressive rock, and ambient. On some albums they have defined themselves as New Wave of Finnish Heavy Metal (NWOFHM). The band was formed by bassist and singer Jussi Lehtisalo, the only member who has been in the band throughout its career. In November 2021 Circle released Henki, a collaborative album made with English folk influenced musician Richard Dawson, on the Weird World record label.
Links to Peel[]
Peel first played the debut single, DNA, of Circle in 1991 on his shows and would sporadically play their material throughout the 90's. In 2002, the band did a session for Peel's show with four tracks. The tracks were so long that the session had to be broadcast in half on two dates. Peel was impressed with the group's 'Prospekt' album that he nominated it as one of his albums for January 2003 (Peel's Record Box).
