Don French was an American singer and guitarist born in Pennsylvania in 1940. He released two singles between 1958 and 1959, whilst studying at university. The songs Goldilocks & Little Blonde Girl were written for and dedicated to his then-sweetheart Margo, who became his first wife and mother of his first son Don Jr. There is very little information on what career he made after releasing his two singles, but apparently he still lives in Pennsylvania and is married to his second wife Karen. Don also has two other children (Whitney and David) and a grandson named John.

In an interview with the Guardian in 2001, Peel mentioned that along with Teenage Kicks by the Undertones, his all time favourite records were Stanley Winston's No More Ghettos In America, the Quads' There Must Be Thousands and Don French's Lonely Saturday Night. [1] After Peel's death, it was later found out that he had two copies of Don French's Lonely Saturday Night / Goldilocks single in his record box, which contained 142 singles.
