Eire Apparent was a psychedelic rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland, consisting of:
- Ernie Graham - vocals, rhythm guitar
- Henry McCullough - lead guitar
- Chris Stewart - bass
- Dave Lutton - drums
The band were noted for launching the careers of Henry McCullough and Ernie Graham, and for having Robert Wyatt and Jimi Hendrix play on, and Jimi Hendrix produce, their only album.
Originally formed as The People in 1965, they changed their name to Eire Apparent in 1967. The band broke up in May 1970.
Links to Peel[]
Eire Apparent and some other bands performed at the Lyceum's “John Peel's Midnight Court” in April 1969. Peel’s name was used for the event and he's listed as compere[1] but apparently he wasn’t there in person. Friday night gigs at Lyceum continued under the “Midnight Court” banner (JP name dropped) [2][3]. Nonetheless, Peel did play music from the band on his shows between the late 60's and early 70's. He also revisited The band's music in 1984 when he played a track from their 1969 'Sunrise' album.
