According to Ken Garner's The Peel Sessions book, Chris Hardy joined with Jackson C. Frank to do the latter's session for the edition of My Kind Of Folk Frank hosted in 1968. At that time, Hardy was a student at Canterbury University and during the session, performed one solo item. He also performed with Rod Cameron as part of Holy Willie's Prayer (named after a famous poem by Robert Burns[2]), who did a session for Peel's programme in 1970. Producer John Walters wrote to the BBC audition panel, explaining they had been 'booked as unknown duo after submitting tape'. In 1972 Chris Hardy performed another session with the Basement Blowers and would do two further sessions for Peel's programmes.

However, Hardy became better known as a poet than as a musician and according to Discogs, most of his appearances on record are as an accompanist or band member, with only a few items under his own name. Perhaps because of this, no records by him are featured in existing Peel playlists.
