John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Filthkick

Filthkick were an English hardcore punk band formed in 1989 and were based in Birmingham / Coventry. Although several drummers were trialed the first official lineup was: Jim (Ex Napalm Death / Ripcord) - Bass; Leggo (Ex Deviated Instinct) - Vocals; M4RK - Guitar and Ben Mochrie - Drums. Filthkick played their first gig in May 1989 at The Birmingham Barrel Organ supporting Extreme Noise Terror. The two bands hit it off and Filthkick continued to play support slots for Extreme Noise Terror.

In 1989, Extreme Noise Terror invited Filthkick to record a split album - The two bands released the joint album In It For Life on Sink Below Records (The album has since been licensed to various labels worldwide)

Links to Peel[]

Peel first saw the band play at The Ipswich Carribean Centre (again supporting Extreme Noise Terror) in 1989. So impressed by them, he invited the group to do a session for his show later in that year. The following year in 1990, he invited the group again to perform a second session, which they played more than the usual 4 songs. After the group split in the early 90's, Peel never revisited them on later programmes.
