Fingerprintz

Fingerprintz was a Scottish New Wave band founded in 1978, with a first single issued in January 1979. The debut album issued in September of the same year saw them without their original singer and main songwriter Jimme O'Neill taking over lead vocals.

Vocalist Jimme O'Neill and guitarist Cha Burns met and formed Fingerprintz, and released three albums under that name: The Very Dab, Distinguishing Marks and Beat Noir. They earned some critical recognition and notable appearances on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show and the BBC's In Concert radio series. The group split in 1985.

O'Neill and Burns later formed The Silencers.

Peel discovered the group in 1978 before the band released any records. He had them do a session for his show in December 1978 and the group gained attention from Virgin Records, who released records of the group via their label. After the band split in 1981, Peel never revisited the group on his radio programmes.
