Freddy De Majunga is a guitarist from Madagascar who mixes the Malagasy genre salegy with the Congolese genre soukous. He has collaborated with many soukous artists including Le Group Loketo and Matchatcha. There is not much information on the English language media about his personal life, although according to his Facebook account, he is based in Madagascar and was previously based on the French island of Reunion. Peel mentioned on his 08 November 1989 programme receiving a copy of the musician's album in the morning. He played a track from it on that show and would play further material from the artist until the early 90's. After 1992, Peel seemed to have lost interest in Freddy's music.
