Hey Paulette were an Irish indie band formed in Dublin in 1987 by Eamonn Davis (vocals, rhythm guitars), Colm Fitzpatrick (Bass) and Derrick Dalton (Lead Guitars). The band's first single was recorded with a drum machine for the label Mickey Rourke's Fridge run by Sean A. McDermott. The single made the Alternative Top 10 on Irish Capitol Radio in 1988. Soon after, the band were joined by drummer, Darren Nolan. He had only intended to play with the band for a short while but remained with the group until they split in 1991.
The band then went on to record what would be their final E.P. entitled 'I Really Do Love Penelope'. This was produced by Stan Erraught of Stars Of Heaven fame. Stan subsequently joined the band and play on the last two songs that were recorded. The first of these, 'Inconsequential' appeared on 'The Sound Of Leamington Spa' while 'Pebbledash' featured on the 'Seven Summers' collection.

A copy of the 'Commonplace' single was sent to John Peel accompanied by a hand-written note. The band then recorded an E.P. entitled, Mickey Rourke's Fridge Presents'. As fate would have it, John Peel had read the note and invited the band to record a session in the summer of 1989. Hey Paulette duly obliged. The session was produced by Dale Griffin who had previously worked with The Smiths. Soon after, the band were invited to record a Dave Fanning Session. They also made a TV appearance on the Jo Maxi Show. The band performed 'My Half Of The Pillow'.
