John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Into Paradise

Into Paradise were an Irish indie rock group from Dublin, Ireland, consisting of David Long, Ronan Clarke, Rachel Tighe and James Eadie, whose influences included Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen. They formed in 1986 as 'Backwards into Paradise', and released their debut EP 'Blue Light' in 1989 on the independent label Setanta. Soon after came the EP 'Change' and the band's first full-length album, 'Under the Water'. There was only ever one fight on-stage, contray to popular belief, that was in 1988 more of a drunken scuffle in a small venue in Dublin called the underground, it made good publicity thereafter. Rachel and James later joined Luggage in the 90's.

Links to Peel[]

Peel played a track from their debut single, 'Blue Light' on his radio programme in September 1989. However, he never continued playing their material after that. When Rachel and James from the band later joined a new group called Luggage in the 90's, he kept interest in this new group by playing their songs on his shows including a session the band recorded for his show in December 1995.
