Israel (Hebrew: יִשְׂרָאֵל Yīsrāʾēl; Arabic: إِسْرَائِيل ʾIsrāʾīl), officially the State of Israel (מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל Medīnat Yīsrāʾēl; دَوْلَة إِسْرَائِيل Dawlat Isrāʾīl), is a country in Western Asia. Situated in the Southern Levant, it is bordered by Lebanon to the north, by Syria to the northeast, by Jordan to the east, by the Red Sea to the south, by Egypt to the southwest, by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, and by the Palestinian territories — the West Bank along the east and the Gaza Strip along the southwest. Tel Aviv is the economic and technological center of the country, while its seat of government is in its proclaimed capital of Jerusalem, although Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem is unrecognized internationally.

Peel seemed to have discovered Israeli rock music in the 70's according to available tracklistings on this site, where he played track from some Israeli artists including the Churchills and Shalom Hanoch (also known as Shalom Chanoch) in 1972.

In 1985, Peel had Israeli band, Minimal Compact, do a session for his show, making them the first group form that country to do a Peel session. Around that year, he also discovered Israeli singer, Ofra Haza, via Grant Goddard, who was a listener living in Tel Aviv, who sent him her record. Peel also appeared in the Israeli documentary, Life And Death Of Ofra Haza, which was broadcast in Israel in 2002, two years after her death.

In 1988, Peel played a track from Ha'ashem Tamid (The Always Guilty One), alias name of Yair Nitzani, who is an Israeli musician, songwriter, TV host and comedian.

During the 90's and 00's when Israeli psychedelic trance was at its peak, Peel played tracks from Israeli electronic artists such as Astral Projection and Alien Project.
