- (This page is about the British singer. For the German band of the same name, see Jane(2)).

Jane Lancaster (also known as Jane) (born 1963) was a British singer, who teamed up with at that time her boyfriend, Edward Burton to compose the song, It's A Fine Day. The track gained interest from the Red Cherry label, who released it as a single. An album followed on, with credits going to Jane And Burton. After that she made some records before later going into acting, including appearances on Coronation Street, before finally becoming a fitness instructor.

It's A Fine Day was played by John Peel. It was then heard by Iain McNay of Cherry Red Records, who obtained the rights to the record and released it more widely on his label in 1983. The song reached number 5 on the UK Indie Chart, and later appeared, credited to Jane and Barton, on their eponymous mini-album Jane and Barton.
Peel revisited the song in 1992 when a listener wrote a letter to him that dance act, Opus III, covered the track and wanted the original version by Jane on the show, which he played. Opus III's version of It's A Fine Day entered at number 5 in the UK singles chart in that year.
