Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Joyce McKinney Experience

The Joyce McKinney Experience were a British indie rock band based in Leamington Spa. The band had dual female fronted vocals of Sharon Hunt and Yvonne McAvoy. The group had one studio album and a couple of singles between 1988 and 1990. They were named after Joyce McKinney, an American woman who was involved in the 1977 Manacled Mormon case, where she was involved in raping a male Mormon missionary in England. The American woman's face is also featured on the front cover of the band's 2006 compilation album, 'Love Songs For Kirk'. The title refers to Kirk Anderson was the male Mormon missionary, who was the rape victim of the attack by Joyce McKinney.

Peel discovered the band in January 1988 via the various artists compilation album, 'Shall We Dance?'. Further material from the band were played on his shows and impressed by their songs, he invited the group to do a session in July 1988, where they recorded four songs.
