Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

Juan Atkins is an American musician and DJ born on September 12, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Detroit techno music and is often referred to as the "Godfather of techno."

In the early 1980s, he formed the band Cybotron with Rick Davis, and together they released several influential singles that helped to define the sound of techno. After the disbandment of Cybotron, Atkins went on to release solo singles under the name Model 500, including the iconic track "No UFOs."

He has collaborated with many other influential electronic music producers, including Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, and continues to tour and DJ around the world. Atkins has also received numerous industry awards for his contributions to the world of electronic dance music.
