The Killjoys were a punk band from Birmingham, England, formed in 1976. Its members included Kevin Rowland and Kevin "Al" Archer, who would later form Dexys Midnight Runners, and Ghislaine "Gil" Weston, who would go on to join Girlschool. Although the group only released one single during their existence, subsequent interest saw an album of recordings released in 1992.

The band came to the attention of Raw Records boss Lee Wood, who signed the band for the single "Johnny Won't Get to Heaven"/"Naïve", which went on to sell 18,000 copies. This was the largest-selling single that Raw Records ever had, due to partly Peel playing the single on his show in 1977, when he received a copy from the label. Peel would later invite the group to do a session for his show in October 1977 and then in February 1978.
