King Kurt were a psychobilly / rock 'n' roll band from the UK, originally active from 1981 to 1988. They had a minor UK hit in 1983 with the single Destination Zulu Land, released on Stiff Records, and produced by Dave Edmunds. The group reformed for live work in 1992–1996, and again in 2012.
Links to Peel[]
Aside from their hit single, Peel took an interest in King Kurt's debut album Ooh Wallah Wallah released in November 1983, and in particular to their cover version of Ghost Riders in the Sky. The DJ does not seem to have give any plays to further releases, notwithstanding the group's loyalty to indie label Stiff.
