John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

Krispy 3 were a British hip hop group from Chorley in Lancashire. After getting together in 1987, they started out as a trio consisting of brothers Michael (Microphone D.O.N. or Mikey D.O.N.) and Richard Finlayson (Mr. Wiz) and friend George Guye (Sonic G). Later the group became a duo consisting of only Michael and Richard Finlayson. The group's first track was released in 1989 and they would continue releasing tracks throughout the 90's including several singles and albums. Krispy 3 also embarked on tours with the likes of Naughty By Nature and headlined their own shows as far a field as Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. The group's last album, From The Country, was released in 1999 and their last single, What They Talking Bout, in 2005.

In an interview with Mikey D.O.N. for the Heads fanzine, published on August 2020, he praised John Peel for exposing the group's debut single (Comin' Thru Clear) on BBC Radio One:

"There were only 50 copies of this 7", we gave out loads for promo and all that, it gained some mad momentum. John Peel fully championed it, people listened to him like he was a music bible, he played it and played it and played it - he asked for another copy - we sent him 3 in the end. When I say the guy rinsed it, he fucking rinsed it out - both sides as well" [1]

The group would later do two sessions for Peel's show in the early 90's. However, after 1999, the duo’s music rarely got played on his programmes.
