The Lijadu Sisters, Taiwo and Kehinde Lijadu (born 18 September 1958), are identical twin sisters from Nigeria who were an important music duet from the mid-1960s to the 1980s. They achieved success in Nigeria and had modest influence in the United States and Europe. They were notable for being a West African version of the Pointer Sisters who mixed Afrobeat sounds with jazz and disco.

Links To Peel

Peel first obtained copies of their album through the Afrodisia label and would regularly play their music in the 80's. The group split in the 80's when Kehinde injured her spine in the fall and the sisters quit music and retreated into religious practice for the next 20 years.
