Liquid Liquid is an American no wave and dance-punk group, originally active from 1980 to 1983, consisting of Dennis Young, Richard McGuire, Salvatore Principato and Scott Hartley. They are best known for their track "Cavern," which was covered—without proper permission or attribution—by the Sugar Hill Records house band as the backing track for Melle Mel's old school rap classic "White Lines (Don't Don’t Do It)."The group released a series of extended plays, including the acclaimed 1983 12" EP Optimo. In 2008, the band reformed and have played in multiple countries.
Links to Peel[]
Peel first heard of the group in the summer of 1981 and Bob George also played their track, 'Lock Groove (Out)' on the DJ's 30 November 1981 show. Further tracks from the group were played on his shows and in the 90's and 00's, Peel would sometimes revisit them on his shows by playing some tracks from their 1983 Optimo EP.
