Vilnius 4

Peel travelled to the country as part of his visit to Russia and the Baltic states in 1992 in conjunction with the BBC World Service and the British Council. He visited Vilnius via a double decker bus that travelled from St Petersburg into the Baltic states and described Lithuania's capital as a beautiful city on his 24 July 1992 show:

"I would recommend if you ever get the chance to visit Vilnius particularly, you should go before it's touristified you know, because at the moment it is a stunning beautiful place, a beautiful place I've ever been in my life"
