John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Matt Bianco 1

Matt Bianco are a British Latin-inspired jazz-pop band formed in 1983 by Mark Reilly (vocals), Danny White (keyboard), Kito Poncioni (bass) – all formerly of Blue Rondo A La Turk – plus Polish vocalist Basia Trzetrzelewska, who had relocated to the UK in 1981. Their debut album Whose Side Are You On (1984) spawned several hit singles including "Get Out of Your Lazy Bed", "More Than I Can Bear", "Half a Minute", "Sneaking Out The Back Door" and the title track. Both Poncioni and Trzetrzelewska left the band before their second eponymous album in 1986, with Jenni Evans joining on vocals and Mark Fisher taking on keyboard player and songwriting duties. Their cover version of Georgie Fame's "Yeh Yeh" also went Top 20 in 1986.

Founder member Reilly continues to record and perform live as Matt Bianco.

There is no evidence of Peel playing or appreciating any of Matt Bianco's music, other than introducing their debut hit Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed on Top of the Pops in March 1984, and his review of their 1985 single More Than I Can Bear on Round Table, when he commented "I wouldn't switch it off".
