  • Hi Eddie, thanks for the edit to Punk 3 with regards DTJ, I have changed the source as the LP you cited wasn't out until 2014. Hope this is OK.

  • Hi Eddie

Peel appeared in a German documentary called Signale Aus Der Schwabischen Strasse. This was broadcast on German TV (SFB in Berlin) on 23rd May 1976. Between 19:24 and 19:43 of the video below, Peel is dubbed in the German language and as you are German, I am interested to know what he is saying? If you can translate what he is saying briefly that would be great!!

Tangerine Dream - Signale aus der Schwäbischen Straße (1976)-0

    • Hi John, thanks for the link. An exciting discussion in Edgar Froese's Schöneberg apartment. By the way, just around the corner from my home.

Peel's objection to the thesis that Rock'n'Roll is a primitive music (19:24 - 19:43): „No, no, no, Rock'n'Roll is not primitive at all, but elemental, let's say it is originally. And the thing that bothers me most about your reasoning is that you bring Rock'n'Roll back to a level that comes suspiciously close to the scope of an 'art discussion', 'art' capitalized“.

      HTH. :-)

        Loading editor
    • Thanks Eddie. So basically the discussion they had in Edgar Froese’s apartment was about Rock n roll music. I wonder why they had a discussion about Rock n roll music in a documentary about Tangerine Dream?

        Loading editor
    • John, your astonishment is completely justified. Because R'n'R and Tangerine Dream? Actually a contradictio in adiectio. ;-) I think R'n'R was simply and erroneously used synonymously with pop music, especially since the discussion was - among other things - about the influence of this band on POP MUSIC. :-)

  • Thanks for these Radio Bremen and BBC World Service Shows Eddie. How many Radio Bremen and BBC World Service shows have you got left? I've been really enjoying listening to these.

      Loading editor
    • John, unfortunately, I have only 3 shows from BBC WS (1982 & 1983) and 1 Show from Radio Bremen (11/1989) got left. And an interview by "Zitty" with John Peel from January 1982 , which he gave to this City Guide on the occasion of his visit to Berlin. I could also digitise and upload this if wanted.

        Loading editor
    • That would be great, if you can also upload the interview by "Zitty". I'm guessing the interview is in English, without being dubbed in German on the audio?

        Loading editor
    • Yes, the interview is in English. The sound quality is poor, however, as I just noticed. Please, do not expect too much.

    • No probs. Thanks for the efforts.

  • Hi Eddie

I've noticed your October 1986 (Radio Bremen) is the same as the June 1986 (Radio Bremen) . Was this an error or did they repeat the same show? I do know that Peel was away in October 1986, when he was visiting the Far East and it could be that Radio Bremen repeated the show.

  • Hi Eddie

I found a video on YouTube, where someone put a partial list of BFBS tracklistings from 1st and 8th July 1985. Is it possible to complete what is missing from 01 July 1985 (BFBS) and 08 July 1985 (BFBS). I've added the ones that I saw on the video for those dates.

Thank You (or Danke as they say in German!!)

  • Hi Eddie - can you check the broadcast date for "Waiting" - an Ultravox B-side from 1980? You put a date of 03 March 1980 (BFBS) on the page but this would seem to be a few months ahead of the official release. Thanks a lot.

    • Hi, MD; you're absolutely right. Sorry for my error (mistyping?). :-)

The correct date is: 03 July 1980 (BFBS).

  • Hi - thanks for your additions to Human League page re. BFBS shows (do you have recordings of these?)

I've further corrected source of Sound of the Crowd from album 'Dare' to (7") Virgin VS 416, firstly because the album wasn't out yet and secondly because the album version is slightly different.

    All the best

  • Hi Eddie, firstly thanks for all the wonderful BFBS shows you've graced us with! Secondly, you say you have track listings for shows up to 1994. I wonder if you would be willing to have a look at the 21 June 1991 (BFBS) show and confirm the date for me. The original lister has guessed that it was on a Friday, which doesn't chime with the other shows I've seen from 1992 onwards. Also, Peel is talking about his experiences at the TT races, which I think were earlier in the month. As I'm working through Dirk's recordings from this era, he doesn't have extracts from all the shows for 1991 since he was in the army, so it would be a real help if you could look at this and the Peel 185 (BFBS) and Peel 186 (BFBS) recordings as I feel a bit at sea here!

    All the best

    • Hi Steve, indeed, it was a Friday and it chimes with the other shows (31 May, 07 June, 14 June, 28 June, 27 Dec 1991 and so on. BFBS Cologne often changed the schedule. For example: From 08 February 1992 to 28 March 1992: on Saturdays; from 05 April 1992 to 28 June 1992: on Sundays; from 04 July 1992 to 25 July 1992: on Saturdays; from 02 August 1992 to 27 December 1992: on Sundays. But I can't say, whether the dates represent the initial edition (1st broadcasting) or the repetition.

  • Hi Eddie, good to see all these tracklistings from the old BFBS shows! JP3904 says you have them from 1979 right through to 1994. As one of the site admins I'd be delighted to make Wiki pages for the rest of the shows and maybe correct some of the information that we do have on the wiki, so if you wish you could email them to me - I'm not sure how to find an email address on the wiki or on youtube (where I am weatherman10) but maybe if you find my channel you can?
