  • Leave a few for me! I can't work on them this evening though as on night shift

  • I see you've started working backwards from the last show, I wonder where we will meet! Anyway I spent some time collating the tracklistings into a text file and using a global search/replace (many of) to get them more into a wiki format. It still needs a little editing for each show but will hopefully save some time.

  • Hi, I have taken the liberty of transplanting the extra information you provided about the Fast Show to the page I created for it some time ago, as it seemed more relevant there than on the Higsons page (where their connection is already mentioned). Hope this is OK.

  • I reverted the Tyree track at the start of LE028 to Acid Over, Shazam and the timing agree, and it's not the same track as later in that tape which is T.J.G.P. . It begs the question, which show did it come from, as you've managed to fully tracklist every show up to mid Feb so it must be a random track from 20th or 22nd Feb.

    • Actually you are right. It's either from a different show or a possibility that Peel mentioned the wrong title. I didn't shazam it at that time, when listening to it at the British Library because I was just relying on what Peel said.

  • Further to my comments on the talk page, you claim to have discovered the PG file when it was somebody from Azanorak who shared it and I who stayed up until 2 a.m. editing a 1-hour file down to preserve Peel's material. Just saying.

    • I agree, when I create a page, I put it under the Shows Discovered section. I think maybe a new title would be more appropriate to replace the Shows Discovered title. Perhaps something like Shows Wikified. I'll have to think of some title

    • Thanks for your reply, maybe Show Pages Created? I am sure we all appreciate all the hard work you put in on this wiki, and I only wish I had the time to do things like go up to the British Library!

    • Thanks, I've changed it to Show Pages Created, which is a better title. Talking about the British Library, yes I'm lucky I don't live too far away from it and thankfully it's free to listen to John Peel or any other audio shows there. I tend to go there once or twice a month, but it does take nearly a whole day to listen to the shows and then wikify them, so perhaps it's a labour of love that I'm motivated to do it and also to listen to "new" music that I missed out in the 80's.

  • Thanks for the help in my sandbox with the Wilshaw tapes' unknown tracks. It had been quick run through the files when I was on the train, but I don't think I could have identified them all anyway. Shazaming with headphones on a noisy train doesn't work too well... I've only wikified the ones which have brought something new/improved to the table.

Incidentally I see that Colin Harper has posted quite a lot of old extracts of old sessions/shows from the late 60s/70s on his Youtube channel other than the Stefan Grossman and Blodwyn Pig shows that you have added to the site. Do you plan to go through these, and if so, would you like any help? I assume that they must be off-air recordings, certainly some are, but not checked most of the others.

  • Is John Peel away on holiday

      Loading editor
    • Hi Stuart

Thanks for the concern. I’m currently in India on holiday well away from the conflict that has been in the news recently and haven’t been much on the internet as WiFi in the country is not that great. I should be back in the U.K. in early March. I got a lot of catching up in terms of new audio to hear from the mooo server when I come back. And I look forward to cooler climates when I come back, as the climate where I’m staying is really getting humid and stuffy, which I’m not a great fan of.

    • Our "heatwave" is over.... enjoy the rest of your visit!

    • Thanks, should be back in the U.K. next week, although I bet when I come back to London, it would be raining like a waterfall. But even if it does, it would a nice change from the heatwave that I’m in India at the moment. Also looking forward to hear new audios of Peel shows, once I’m back, which I’m not able to listen here.

  • Many thanks for front page adjustments. As discussed a while back, I did test the updated version on Chrome browser, but it looked OK at my end. Also looks fine after changes.

    • PS Have made a further adjustment for the sake of page style unity on UK show dates. Hope it look OK at your end.

    • Thanks. Before editing, the pics were alligned perfectly on the i-pad, but on the laptop, it was not alligned. But now it looks perfect after your further adjustments to the page.

  • Many thanks for the new page on the film. Seems like there were some plays from the soundtrack (as per Film Soundtracks page) and wondered if you wanted to add them to the new page or not.
