  • Hi Steve, are you interested in the complete tracklistings of the shows from 25 Oct. 1991, 01 Nov. 1991, 08 November 1991? Greetz

    • Hi Eddie, that would be great...and the shows themselves, as Dirk's files are blighted with print through from earlier recordings and the static from a thermostat. Thanks for the offer!

  • Hi Steve,

Noticed that the big Google Spreadsheet which appears in some of the Year pages (eg 1997) is not showing up any more, and Google says the document is missing, I can't remember if it was yourself or other Steve that set it up or Phil from his database.

  • Hi Steve,

Can you remember the source of this tape, and was it ever made available? I think you may have moved it from a random page, and it has the style of Mr Maudlin. Incidentally did you get the notification that the Pates Tapes are gradually going back online!

      Loading editor
    • Well Stuart, my name's definitely there as having created the page, but I don't remember anything about it. I don' think it was shared as it's not in my collection: maybe you should ask johnpeel3904 as he seems to have done most of the work on it.

I haven't spoken to Charles Pates for nearly four years, so it was a surprise to me that he has finally sorted out his issues and the first five Peel Out In The States tapes are online. I'll link to them now: thanks for the heads up.

    • Actually, forget that because the buttons on his page lead to completely different shows. They're certainly not POITS.

        Loading editor
    • They are three hour rolling files (to satisfy the RIAA) which contain 4 of the old Patestapes each, one of which is a POITS

  • Hi Steve,

I may have missed it, but I don't think the latest additions to the BFBS series, episodes 140-146 were "advertised" on the group?

    Stuart

      Loading editor
    • You're right Stuart, they haven't been. Reason is I'm trying to do them in blocks of 10, but I knew I'd be busy at work so uploaded the ones I'd catalogued to prevent people who come on here regularly asking me where they were. Once I reach 149, there will be a post announcing them.

  • Hi Steve

As part of my Dweemis tracklisting efforts I was attempting to locate File 1 of this show, and found it wasn't in my collection. I see that you have tracklisted this file including some quotes from John, so wondered iof you had a copy of this?

    Cheers

  • Are cool! When I set it up for 1986 I had no idea how to create one. I then just looked at the format of the normal year page in wiki source, and thought I would just add (BFBS) to the format line, and it worked first time. I like technology like that....

    • Cool Steve, will now use this as a template. I added a section for shows shared at the bottom, anything else that you can think of to go on the pages?

        Loading editor
    • Hi Steve, Many thanks for your reply. Guess we could have 1984 in the template as well, but will add that when and if we have the page. Please feel free to add the template to the assorted BFBS Calendar pages (at the top?) and anywhere else it might seem useful.

  • Hi Steve,

I'm going through the 1986 Dirk BFBS shows creating date pages at the moment. I realise that the dates are tentative, but I did come unstuck at Peel 033 and Peel 034. Peel 033 contains 10th 17th and 24th April, and the 17th includes the end of the show. Peel 034 then restarts with the 17th, then moves on to the 24th and 1st April. I wondered if this was intentional, or are the shows on Peel 033 all possibly from a week earlier than shown - nothing has been ascribed to 3rd April 1986 or 27th March for that matter.

    • then moves on to the 24th and 1st May I meant!

    • Hi Stuart, many thanks for attempting something I should have done ages ago. I can only tell you that Dirk left few clues on his spreadsheet: occasionally he listed a date and when I asked him further, he said it was the date of the last recording on the tape. I have faithfully transcribed what there was, but would also point you to Maartens' comments about the sloppiness of BFBS programming.

Also, you may notice that the beginning of a new show recording is marked by the tape deck finding its level (to the point of distortion and a second or two of loss of sound). I don't know if he ever bought a new deck, but I'm now on March 1990 and there's no sign of the quality changing. Finally, he tells me he was in the army during 1991, so there will be fewer recordings from this year. Hope this helps your carbon dating.....

    • Just moved the shows on a week on Peel 034 and 035, that seems to be backed up by the week numbering of 034, and the show JP3904 listened to at the British Library of 8th April - and the 21st April show, confirming that tracks on BFBS shows have normally been played the previous week on R1 shows.

  • Hi Steve,

Just wondering about some of the extra tracks you listed on 24 June 1995 that aren't on the Max-Dat tape eg Diblo Dibala, Oasis etc? As you'll see I've started with the 1996 ones now, will probably go back and do the end of DAT100 as that also has some 1996 shows..

    Cheers

    • Hi Stuart, what is it you wanted to know? If you're wondering why some titles have question marks, it's because I got the listings from Lorcan and that's how they appear there.

      All the best

      Steve

        Loading editor
    • Aah I see, didn't realise there was a Lorcan listing for that show. I'm guessing at least some of the question marks represent live sets as there are 51 minutes unaccounted for, or perhaps there were some more interviews.
