
Midnight Choir (also known as Berserker Joe) was a post-punk/gothic rock band from Sheffield, United Kingdom, founded in 1983 and originally consisting of Dave Loukes (vocals), Simon Gilman (bass), Matt Silcox (drums), Nick Taylor (guitar) and Duncan Wheat (guitar and keyboards). Ziggy Senkans later on replaced vocalist Dave Loukes. The band released threes studio albums and singles in the 80's.

According to available tracklistings on this site, Peel seemed to have discovered the band in 1985 via their debut album, 'Halleluya?'. Later records from the band were played by the DJ, including a session they recorded for his programme in December 1987. He also saw them perform at the Nottingham Garage in May 1987.
