Mildred "Millie" Jackson (born July 15, 1944) is an American soul singer-songwriter. Her vocal performances are often distinguished by long, humorous, and explicit spoken sections in her music, which she started doing on stage to get the attention of the audience. She has also recorded songs in a disco or dance music style and even some country styled songs. She is the mother of R&B singer Keisha Jackson.

In the early 1970s, Peel was impressed by a number of female soul singers of the period, among them Betty Wright, Linda Jones, Ann Peebles - and Millie Jackson. Peel was a big fan of her music and nominated the track 'Loving Arms' as his second favourite single of 1975 on his 19 December 1975 show. The song was also chosen by the DJ as one of 40 records to mark his 40th birthday on 30 August 1979 and later, for the Peelenium 1975 in 1999.
After Peel's death, eleven of Jackson's LPs were found in his Record Collection.[1] Her LP 'Caught Up' (1974) was subsequently featured as the "Hidden Gem" for the letter J at the John Peel Archive blog.[2]
