The Moderates were a Liverpool new wave band who were active between the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band's lineup consisted of John Brady (vocals, keyboards), Heidi Kure (vocals), Phil Allen (drums), Tom Gould (guitar), Bobby Carr (guitar, violin, formerly of Those Naughty Lumps) and Mike Pursey (bass, later of Dead or Alive).

The band supported John Peel's Roadshow date at Liverpool University on 2 September 1978 and impressed by the group's records, Peel invited the ensemble to do a session for his show in 1981, where they performed four tracks.
