John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Nails 82

The Nails were an American alternative rock band formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1976. Originally known as The Ravers[1], after moving to New York in June 1977 they changed their name to The Nails and by the end of the decade had established themselves on the alternative club circuit. They became best known, at least in the UK, for the track "88 Lines About 44 Women", first recorded in 1981, which got them signed to major label RCA who re-released "88 Lines.." and two albums with limited success. Peel played the original version of "88 Lines About 44 Women" several times in early 1982 although his interest in the band's output does not seem to have gone beyond that, save for one known play of the EP title track. Peel 'revived' the track in 1999 after it was included on a Safe House CD sampler.

A Nails' early roadie Eric Boucher went on to be known as Jello Biafra, lead singer of Peel show favourites the Dead Kennedys.
