New Mayfair Dance Orchestra

The New Mayfair Dance Orchestra was a London studio orchestra used for recording purposes by The Gramophone Company from 1928 to 1942. Records by this group were credited as the New Mayfair Dance Orchestra, New Mayfair Novelty Orchestra or The New Mayfair Orchestra, depending on the type of material recorded. Over the years sessions were directed by various musicians including Percival Mackey, Carroll Gibbons, George W. Byng, Ronnie Munro, Harry Leader, Phil Green and most famously Ray Noble (1929-1934) with some records being credited as Ray Noble & His New Mayfair Orchestra or Ray Noble & His Orchestra.
