Similar to the model followed in previous projects, this page has been created for an overview of the tapes in the PM Tapes collection.

Tapes[]

Below are the tapes from Peter Mitchell's collection. This section is intended to give at an overview of tape status, plus links for information on the tapes themselves and the shows broadcast on the dates they cover. Generally these mixtapes contain edited tracks with Peel outros, but occasionally runs of several tracks in which case the complete links are retained. 21 of the first 59 tapes were either completely or partially re-recorded over, most of these within the first 27 tapes. For those recorded over tapes after PM007, the original tracklistings were preserved and will also feature in the tape pages. The over-recordings appear to be primary themed by artist or genre, and were copied from later tapes in the series. They generally contain no links, though unless the tape they were copied from was also subsequently recorded over, said links appear later in the series.

Primary ripping responsibility belongs to Tim, who received the tapes from Peter's brother. However 10 of the first batch of tapes were found to be unplayable; these were sent to Weatherman22 to repair and digitise.

The main collection stretches to 294 tapes, though a further stash of 126 tapes was later discovered, with the numbering system starting back at 1, though generally not in chronological order. Presumably we will just continue with the PMxxx system up to PM420. These tapes contain unedited segments, usually 90 minutes, of Thursday shows from 1981 to 1983.
