John Peel Wiki
Pablo

Pablo Lubadika Porthos (1952-2010) was a Congolese guitarist with Orchestre Lovy Du Zaïre, and later Orchestre Kara De Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic Of The Congo. In pursuit of greater success he eventually moved on to Lomé, Togo and again to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where he was a member of L'African All Stars. While a member of that group he ended up in Paris, France and quickly adapted the Soukous style of the Congos to the new recording techniques (and Kinshasa ex-pats) that were available in the city.

Links to Peel[]

Peel played material from the musician on his shows between the 80's and 90's, although didn't seem to play tracks from groups which Pablo was members of. After Peel's death in 2004, it was later found out that he had several albums of the musician in his Record Collection: P.
