Roberto A. Mendoza, known as Panoptica, is a Mexican electronic musician from Tijuana, Mexico who has been one of the figures in the Mexican electronic scene since the late 80s, founding bands like electro post-industrial outfit Artefakto and in the late 90’s being part of the Tijuana based norteña-meets-techno Nortec Collective.

Under the name of Panoptica, Peel discovered the artist in 2001 through the Certificate 18 label, who were based in the UK promoting electronic and Drum And Bass music. Peel invited Panoptica to do a session for his show, becoming the first Mexican to do a Peel session.
