Paska is a Finnish one-man acapella band formed in 1984, whose group's name in the Finnish language translates as faeces or shit. The band was named such because the idea was to prove that anybody can make music, no matter how "paska" (crappy) they happen to be.
The band consists of Ari "Paska" Peltonen, a radio show host and writer. His show used to air on one of YLE's Finnish national radio channels, where his controversial punchlines and perverted humour was deemed inappropriate, leading to his swift dismissal. Currently he is working at Radio Helsinki.
Links To Peel[]
Peel got hold of Paska's material through a Finnish indie label and seemed to be impressed with the singer's punk acapella vocals of songs, often cover versions. By the mid-90's, the group seemed to have been neglected by the DJ, despite releasing a few EP's.
