20 February 1987 (BFBS)

(JP: 'For some reason I'm not entirely convinced by that.....perhaps I should listen to it again.')
(JP: 'That there Morrissey does write some funny lines, I must say. People think they're terribly gloomy and depressing, you know. I don't see that at all.')
(JP: 'Obviously they have a very different legal system in Finland. I plan to travel there in the spring and find out more about Finland and Finnish music...That ends this week's edition of John Peel's Music On BFBS. Thanks very much for listening, and I hope you'll join me again at the same time next week.') [2]

27 February 1987 (BFBS)

(JP: 'Those of you who find my attempts to pronounce German names amusing will probably find my attempts to pronounce Welsh names even more so.')
(JP: 'The only professional footballer that I've ever known socially is Pat Nevin, who unfortunately plays for Chelsea, and last time I saw him he didn't play particularly well. He's usually very good.')

  • Many thanks to Dirk.
  1. JP mentions this is in the charts: it entered at number 12 in the first week of February and slid downward thenceforth.
  2. JP planned to travel to Finland on a roadtrip with the family from the UK during Easter, but only reached Sweden, before deciding to go back, after he realised many places in Scandinavia closed during the Easter break. Peel finally made it to Finland in 2001 when he did a show for BBC Radio One.
  3. John apologises for this being from one of his sessions....but this is not that recording, although there are Peel Session recordings on the LP.
